This studio chair was born from limitation and personal insight. With ash timber as the primary available material and simple fabrics for comfort, the design required a clever and efficient approach. Guided by how I naturally sit in the studio, often leaning slightly forward for work or back during conversations, I introduced a gentle rocking motion beneath the seat. This subtle feature supports intuitive movement and encourages a more relaxed, engaged way of sitting, shaped entirely by real studio behaviour.
1 Week Project - NTU Second Year
“Creating a chair in just one week was a huge challenge; chairs demand serious design thinking, not just in how they look, but how they feel and work with the human body. Tackling that with limited materials pushed my creativity to the limit… and I absolutely loved it!”
